What is NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a scheme of the Australian Government that funds costs associated with disability. The scheme was legislated in 2013 and went into full operation in 2020.

Claiming funding for items in our store

There are different categories of funding under the NDIS and each of these categories fund different activities and services that are related to a NDIS participants’ goals.

You should be able to receive funding for the items in our store if they are directly related to your NDIS goals.

Some individuals have an 'Assistive Technology' or ‘Consumables’ budget included in their plan as part of the ‘Core Budget’

Assistive Technology and Consumable Budget

Low risk Assistive Technology or consumables (Level 1) are described as low cost and low risk products from retail suppliers which need no or very little assistance to set up such as, a non-slip bathmat and sensory regulation tools. Basically all of the items in our store.

Low cost and low risk items (Level 1) do not require a form to be sent into the NDIS. Individuals with Level 1 funded supports in their plan can seek advice and buy it themselves.

Supply of Levels 2-4 require an appropriate assessment form to be sent into the NDIS. These items need to be assessed by the NDIA as part of your planning process and written into your plan if approved.

Who Can I ask?

If you are unsure of whether you may be able to use your funding for any of the items in our store, it would be helpful to have a conversation with your Local Area Coordinator (if self-managed) or Plan Manager (if plan-managed).

  • Email or call us to provide you with an NDIS compliant receipt, for your records.

  • Log onto the NDIS portal and request reimbursement of the funds spent.

Agency Managed – Please, keep an eye on us as this may change soon

As we are a small Private Practice, we have chosen not to register with the NDIA at this time. Even though we are unable to assist you with buying therapeutic resources with your NDIA managed funds, we would love to assist you if you are using your personal funds and we have made it our priority to keep our prices competitive.
